Travel + Leisure travel magazine has named Bangkok the sixth best city in the world for visitors. In Asia, it is placed third behind Kyoto and Siem Reap.
The judging criteria were based on readers’ opinions on factors which include culture, food, friendliness, shopping and also landmarks.
“There is so much to do here, in terms of shopping, food and entertainment, not to mention some of the world’s best hotels. Bangkok is great destination for travelers of all ages” said Juthaporn Rerngronasa, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s acting governor.
The first place in this year’s list went to Kyoto, Japan followed by Charleston (SC), Siem Reap, Florence and Rome. Bangkok held the number one spot in the surveys by Travel + Leisure from 2010 to 2013.
