A Summary of Thailand’s Phase 2 Transport Infrastructure Plan

The Ministry of Transport announces its emergency action plan for its 2017 budget with investments in 16 transport infrastructure megaprojects with value of up to 439,042 million baht. The following is the summary of projects within the action plan.

National Rail Dual-track Upgrade: total investment value of 311,470 million baht.

  • Pak Nam Po – Denchai (285 km)
  • Jura Junction – Ubon Ratchathani (309 km)
  • Khon Kaen – Nong Kai (174 km)
  • Choomporn – Surat Thani (167 km)
  • Surat Thani – Hat Yai – Song Khla (323 km)
  • Hat Yai – Padang Besar (48 km)
  • Denchai – Chiang Mai (189 km)

Metropolitan Rail for Greater Bangkok Region: total investment value of 125,173 million baht.

  • MRT Dark Blue Line Bangkae – Puttamonthon Sai 4 (8 km)
  • MRT Orange Line (West) Taling Chan – Thailand Cultural Centre (17.5 km)
  • MRT/BTS Dark Green Line Samut Prakarn – Bang Pou (7 km)
  • MRT/BTS Dark Green Line Khukhot – Lumlookka (7 km)

Regional Airports

  • Expansion of runway and taxiway at Sakon Nakorn Airport
  • Extension of runway at Mae Sot Airport in Tak Province
  • Passenger terminal at Baytong Airport in Yala Province
  • New passenger terminal at Petchaboon Province
