The latest Knight Frank Housebuilding Report gives an update on supply and demand dynamics in the UK residential markets, and shares key findings from a survey of housebuilders and developers to highlight areas which could help further boost the supply of new homes.
The report examines the delivery of new homes, highlighting the recent increase in the supply of residential units, as well as the step up in planning permissions.
However the survey of housebuilders highlighted some issues within the industry that might be addressed to underpin the upward trend in development, as well as some of the possible solutions.
The key suggestions include increasing resources for planning departments, which was flagged by the largest proportion of respondents to the survey as a way to help boost development, as well as easing the path of planning on public sector land and improving skills and training for the industry – as can be seen below:
